Filed Under: banana yoshimoto, books, goodbye tsugumi |0 commentsi've been reading this book called goodbye tsugumi by banana yoshimoto. i bought it two years ago at chapters on sale for 4.99, i believe. tessar recommended it. said it was a slow read but good. with the book being 4.99, the asian blood in me just couldn't resist picking it up. i started to read it. i got to the third of fourth chapter and stopped. reason being that 1) it was indeed slow; 2) people introduced me to a bunch of different books while i was reading goodbye tsugumi, and they seemed much more interesting.
these books were:
- the five people you meet in heaven by mitch albom;
- illusions: the adventures of a reluctant messiah by richard bach;
- for one more day by mitch albom;
- the war of art: breaking through the blocks and win your creative battles by steven pressfield.
they were all pretty good reads. especially illusions. it was highly enlightening. i really got into it. anyway. back to goodbye tsugumi. so it had been two years since i had read those few chapters, so i decided to go through it again. i'm only through 2/3 of the book so far, but it's really good. calming read, and makes you really appreciate the little things in life that you take for granted so much. especially now more than ever. i know i haven't finished the book yet. but i still recommend it.
This world of ours is piled high with farewells and goodbyes of so many different kinds, like the evening sky renewing itself again and again from one instant to the next — and I didn't want to forget a single one.— goodbye tsugumi
ps. chad, your video blog was hilarious.

Filed Under: montreal, storm, video games |2 commentsfrom june 8-15, i was in montreal/brossard for a week. visited my family and played a LOT of grand theft auto. kept myself from drowning in my own thoughts too much. on that tuesday (june 10), a storm hit bad and flipped some tranports on the champlain bridge. pretty crazy news, i must say. that day, i was about to head out for a walk to the mall dix-trente. as i got ready to head out, the skies got uber dark and next thing i knew, the storm struck. this was what i caught of the storm outside my parents's house on camera. also, i had to explain to my uncle why the LCD display screen was cracked...
that saturday, i hung out at presse cafe at the dix-trente mall and they were building a crazy sandcastle outside the cafe. then i saw another storm coming and i left. it rained pretty hard. i walked for 20 minutes in the rain. if you saw me that day, you'd think that i went for a swim in my clothes.
i also bought an xbox 360 later that week with some pretty sweet games. thanks jason! call of duty 4 looks too amazing on the HDTV... beyond that, not much more news other than life being so complicated.
